Deadline reports that "early unconfirmed talk [is that Sony wants] to bring back Venom and they are looking at Philip Seymour Hoffman
It should be noted that all of this information is grounded in rumor territory — especially Hoffman as Venom. Spider-Man's symbiotic nemesis was the subject of the most recent entry in the franchise, played there by Topher Grace. While it's not entirely out of the question that Venom could pose a threat in the rebooted "Spider-Man" series, it's surprising that he would show up again this soon, especially with an against type actor like Hoffman in the role.
