Batman: Under The Red Hood

Official film description:
"Batman faces his ultimate challenge as the mysterious Red Hood takes Gotham City by firestorm. One part vigilante, one part criminal kingpin, Red Hood begins cleaning up Gotham with the efficiency of Batman, but without following the same ethical code. Killing is an option. And when the Joker falls in the balance between the two, hard truths are revealed and old wounds are reopened."

My Review:
This movie is definitely not for kids. The opening scene in the movie is of The Joker violently beating Robin/Jason Todd with a crowbar and then locking him in a warehouse and then blowing him up, killing him. The violence doesn't stop there, as the movie progresses, we see people getting shot in the head, blood splatters, vicious beatings and much more. Basically the action never stops.

There is no shortage of characters in this film as there are appearances from Nightwing (Neil Patrick Harris), Ra's al Ghul (Jason Isaacs), The Joker (John Di Maggio), The Black Mask (Wade Williams), along with other supporting characters. Overall I thought the voice actors did a good job, it was just hard getting used to hearing different people voicing Batman and The Joker, because to me Kevin Conroy will always be Batman and Mark Hamill will always be The Joker. Even though it was odd hearing the voice of Bender from Futurama in the voice of The Joker. That being said, John Di Maggio does do a good job The Joker, in fact several people have said that he has mixed both Mark Hamill's Joker with Heather Ledger's Joker.

Overall I give this movie 5 out of 5 stars and definitely recommend it to both old and new fans of Batman.

DC Universe Online Trailer

Recently at Comic-Con 2010 Sony released a new trailer for the highly anticipated DC Universe Online game and I must say the trailer is awesome. Now it doesn't really show you game play, but does give you insight to the story line of the game. Now, I don't have a PS3 and I do not play games on the PC, but even if I did, I still would not play this game. I just don't like the fact of having to pay a monthly charge to play a game online. To have to pay $60 for a game and then $15 a month to play it, is absurd. If you feel the need to charge extra to play online, then charge a flat yearly fee, like Xbox 360 does. If Sony charged $50 a year to play the game like, Xbox charges for their Gold Online Services, then I would probably consider buying the game, well if I owned a PS3 or played games on the PC. But, I guess in the end, Puff Daddy or what ever his name is now put it best, "It's all about the benjamins baby!"

Boba Fett to Appear in Force Unleashed II

Lucas Arts announces that fan favorite Boba Fett will appear in Star Wars Force Unleashed II, which is scheduled to be released on October 26th, 2010 on all platforms.

This is a follow up to Star Wars Force Unleashed, which was released in 2008 and continues to follow the story of Starkiller, Darth Vader's secret apprentice. The story takes place between the films Star Wars, Episode III: Revenge of the Sith and Episode IV: A New Hope. Starkiller, who was ordered to be executed by Vader has escaped and Vader has hired Boba Fett to track him down.

I guess it makes sense to have Boba Fett in the game, but I just don't understand why he is such a fan favorite. I mean, what has he done? When he was introduced in Empire Strikes back, all he did was follow Han Solo to Cloud City and then Vader handed Han over to him, he didn't even catch the guy himself. I think Vader should have gotten the bounty from Jaba. Then in Return of the Jedi, he is knocked into the Sarlac pit by a blind guy and eaten. But, oh no, the fans didn't like that, so in stories after Return of the Jedi, Boba Fet manages to escape. Again, I just don't see why people like him, but if that's what the people want, I guess Lucas Arts is more than happy to give it to them.

First look at Ryan Reynolds as Green Lantern

"In brightest day, in blackest night no evil shall escape my sight. Let those who worship evil's might, beware my power.... Green Lantern's light!"

So, the cover photo on the July 23rd issue of Entertainment Weekly which features a picture of Ryan Reynolds in his Green Lantern costume was revealed the other day and sent the web a buzz. The suit is actually digitally painted onto Ryan Reynolds. During shooting Ryan wears a suit similar to what is used when filming athletes for video games like NCAA or Madden. The sensors on the suit allow the costume to added onto the actor after shooting.

To me, the suit just doesn't look right, I mean what's with all the green glowing lines in the suit. A friend of mine said it looks more like a suit from Tron. The way the suit looks aside, I am still looking forward to this movie and hopefully Warner Brothers and DC Comics do not disappoint me.

Now not that anyone who reads this is going, but Ryan Reynolds along with other members of the cast of Green Lantern will be making an appearance at Comic-Con in San Diego on July 24th. Hopefully they will be releasing a trailer at that time as well. Green Lantern is due for a June 2011 release.

Marvel: Norton Won't Return As Hulk For 'Avengers'; Norton's Rep Responds

On Sunday, a Rep from Marvel Comics told Access Hollywood that Edward Norton won't be reprising his role as the Incredible Hulk in 2012's "The Avengers,". Kevin Feige, Marvel Studios president of production explained the decision in the following statement.

"We have made the decision to not bring Ed Norton back to portray the title role of Bruce Banner in 'The Avengers,'" Feige told the site. "Our decision is definitely not one based on monetary factors, but instead rooted in the need for an actor who embodies the creativity and collaborative spirit of our other talented cast members. 'The Avengers' demands players who thrive working as part of an ensemble, as evidenced by Robert, Chris H, Chris E, Sam, Scarlett, and all of our talented casts. We are looking to announce a name actor who fulfills these requirements, and is passionate about the iconic role in the coming weeks."

That being said, current Marvel stars Robert Downey Jr. "Iron Man", Chris Hemsworth "Thor", Chris Evans "Captain America", Samuel L. Jackson "Nick Fury", Scarlett Johansson "Black Widow", are all expected to reprise their roles in "The Avengers."

Norton's rep responded to the statement from Feige saying it was "purposefully misleading" and claiming that his client had been in discussions to return to the role.

Personally I think the decision to not have Norton reprise his role as Bruce Banner is the wrong decision. I felt that he did an excellent job portraying the role and I would love to see Marvel reconsider the decision, not to include him.

Wonder Woman Gets New Outfit

As long as I can remember people have been criticizing Wonder Woman's bathing suit looking outfit and her hooker like red boots. Claiming that her sexy looking outfit is very impractical. Well criticizers rejoice, because for Wonder Woman's 600th issue, DC decided to totally revamp her costume. Her new look is drastically less revealing consisting of long pants and a jacket. They did keep the tiara, bracelets and golden lasso. Her new outfit was designed by acclaimed penciler and DC Comics co-publisher Jim Lee. Incoming series writer J. Michael Straczynski said about the new outfit "It’s a look designed to be taken seriously as a warrior, in partial answer to the many female fans over the years who’ve asked, 'how does she fight in that thing without all her parts falling out?'"
He also wrote in DC's official release. "it’s a Wonder Woman look designed for the 21st century."

Wonder Woman's outfit isn't the only thing that DC revamped, they also did a revamp of her story. The Olympian Gods who created Wonder Woman decided to do a little time manipulation and in this time line, Wonder Woman grew up in a modern urban setting. She has little or no memory of her mythical origin and does not have all her powers yet. Now, I have not had a chance to read this book yet, but I may check it out because I am interested to see how this plays out. I am also curious to see if this new look of hers is accepted by the fans or will they want the old Wonder Woman back. I guess only time will tell.

New Spider-Man Chosen

There is a new Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man in town and his name is Andrew Garfield. British actor Andrew Garfield has been cast as the new Peter Parker for the next installment in the "Spider-Man" movie franchise, Columbia Pictures announced on Thursday.

The next installment of the Spider-Man franchise is being classified as a reboot, which means they are redoing Spider-Man's origin story and returning to the High School Aged Peter Parker, which makes we wonder why they chose a 26 year old actor to play a high school kid, but oh well. That being said, I am ok with Sony doing a reboot, but only if they stay true to the original story line. The original Spider-Man with Toby McGuire did a pretty decent job with staying with the story, the only problem I had with it was the fact that Spider-Man's webbing was self generated. In the comics, Peter creates web shooters to create his webbing and I prefer this because he has the potential of running out and then has to figure out what to do when he is out of webbing. So, I am hoping in this new reboot they go with the web shooters. So for now, I am looking forward to this movie and can't wait to see the direction they take it.
