More Fantastic Four Movie Rumors

Rumor has it that Fox Studios is attempting to sign True Blood actor Stephen Moyer for their reboot of Fantastic Four and that he is being offered the part of villainous Victor Von Doom a.k.a. "Doctor Doom"

It is also being reported that Bruce Willis has been offered the part of The Thing! Now it is rumored that, this time the Thing will be all CGI instead of an actor in a rubber suit, so Willis would just be providing the voice of the character.

Batman to Batmen

Criminals of Gotham City beware, there are now two Dark Knights to worry about. That's right, you heard me, two, count'em two Batmen! Apparently when Bruce Wayne returns, both him and Dick Grayson will be dawning the cowl of The Dark Knight.

According to the New York Post and The Source Bruce is going to handle the worldwide franchising in Batman, Inc. and Dick is going to remain the Batman for Gotham City. Damian Wayne will remain at Dick's side as Robin. To avoid confusion between the two Batmen, Grayson's costume features just the black bat logo, whereas Wayne's will include the black bat over a yellow moon.

As for which books will feature which Batman. Bruce Wayne will be featured in Batman, Inc. by Grant Morrison and Yanick Paquette and Batman: The Dark Knight by David Finch. Dick Grayson will be featured in Detective Comics by Scott Snyder and Jock, Batman and Robin by Peter Tomasi and Patrick Gleason and Batman by Tony Daniel.

It all starts in November.

Halo: Reach Adds "Special Effects" to Armor

Now, most gamers already know that in Halo: Reach you will be able to customize your armor in multiplayer. Which for most means just changing the color of their armor and maybe mixing up a spartan helmet with an ODST Trooper's armor. BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE!!!!!! It was just announced that now you can add "special effects" to your armor, well for a price of course.

Bungie just revealed four effects that will be available at launch and I am sure there will be more added later:
  • Grunt Birthday Party (Cost: 100,000 Credits): Player's head explodes in confetti when killed with a headshot.

  • Hearts (Cost: 200,000 Credits): When the player dies, hearts appear around his/her body.

  • Pestilence (Cost: 1,000,000 Credits): Player's armor constantly radiates a dark cloud of insects.

  • Lightning (Cost: 2,000,000 Credits): Player's armor constantly radiates electricity.
Now don't get too excited. Because, Bungie is not just giving credits away, you will need earn them and it is going to take a lot of gaming hours to do so. According to MTV's game writer Russ Frushtick, he earned about 500 credits per multiplayer match. So, if you want to add "Lightning Effects" to your armor, you are going to need to play in approximately 4,000 matches. Now That's a serious commitment to gaming. Well, I don't know about you, but I think I am going to stick with my Blue, Silver and Black color scheme and my Spartan Helmet with an ODST Trooper's armor.

Marvel's Iron Fist Heading for the Big Screen

Once again Marvel is attempting to bring Iron Fist to the big screen and just announced that Rich Wilkes, creator of the action movie franchise xXx has been chosen to direct the film. Marvel's first attempt at bringing Iron Fist to the big screen was 10 years ago and at that time, Artisan was slated to produce the film, with Ray Park in the role of Iron Fist.

So, who is Iron Fist you ask? Well Iron Fist, aka Danny Rand is the son of a wealthy businessman who wishes to avenge his parents' death by learning martial arts skills from a mysterious man in Asia. Hmmmm, where have I seen/heard that before. The Iron Fist story also features alot of Asian mysticism, fights with dragons, and all sorts of surreal things. So, I would expect tons of CGI in this film.

With the upcoming releases of Marvel's bigger titles like, Captain America, Thor, and The Avengers I am surprised that Marvel is willing to take a chance on a lesser known character. But, who knows, maybe with the announcement of this movie, we will see an influx of comic books starring and/or featuring Iron Fist. I guess only time will tell.

Halo Reach Leaked

Halo: Reach, due out 14th September, was made available to download by reviewers from the official Xbox Live Marketplace website. It was listed at the purchase price of 99999 MS Points, which is equal to about $1,250 in cash. Now of course the reviewers were given a special code that would allow them to download the game without having to actually purchase it. Well, hackers were able to figure out how to bypass that code and began downloading the full game for themselves and allegedly the hackers promised that they were not going to release the title to the public. However, it seems that is no longer true as the game has started to appear on file sharing sites. In response to the news of the breach, Stephen Toulouse, director of policy and enforcement for Xbox Live posted the following comment on Twitter: "As with all unauthorized play on Xbox Live, anyone playing an unauthorized title runs the risk of account permaban."

Hmmmm, was this game truly hacked/stolen or is this just an elaborate Marketing ploy by Microsoft and Bungie? Well, you no what they say, "there is no such thing as bad publicity."

Fantastic Four Reboot Casting Rumors

Last year Fox announced their plans to do a reboot of the Fantastic Four movie franchise. Then in early June, a tentative title of "Fantastic Four: Reborn" was announced. The latest rumors to hit the Internet wire are who will be cast as the Fantastic Four.

Reed Richards "Mr. Fantastic"
According to anonymous sources from ScreenRant Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Adrien Brody are being considered for the role. Brody may have the edge thanks to his recent roles in "Predators" and "Splice".

Sue Storm "The Invisible Woman"
According to ComicBookMovie.com two names have been thrown into the mix: former "X-Men: First Class" actress Alice Eve (who was rumored to be playing Emma Frost before January Jones took the role) and "Pineapple Express" actress Amber Heard.

Johnny Storm "The Human Torch"
Also according to ComicBookMovie.com Kevin Pennington who is relatively unknown is being considered for the role.

Ben Grimm "The Thing"
The only announcement regarding The Thing, is that unlike the original movies he will be totally CGI. In the original two movies, Micheal Chiklis wore a rubber suit.

So, is any of this true, who knows? Guess we will just have to wait a see.

More X-Men: First Class Announcements

Harry Knowles with Ain't It Cool News spoke with Bryan Singer about X-Men: First Class, the upcoming prequel/reboot. In this interview Singer revealed some new information about his upcoming movie.

First, the movie is set in the 1960s and we'll get to see how Xavier (James McAvoy) and Lensherr (Michael Fassbender)first meet. When we are first introduced to Xavier, he will not be in his wheelchair, although later we will get to see what tragedy falls upon him to put him in a wheelchair.

Second, if you thought you were going to see the original first class: Cyclops, Iceman, Angel, Jean Grey and Beast, then you are in for a disappointment. You will see a young beast and Scott Summers/Cyclops brother Alex Summers/Havoc (Jacob Till). But for some strange reason Cyclops and Jean Grey are nowhere to be found. Also in the movie we will see Moira MacTaggert (Rose Byrne), Darwin (Edi Gathegi), Banshee (Caleb Landry Jones), Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence) and Azazel (Jason Flemyng). Singer also said to expect a few more characters they haven't announced yet. Emma Frost (January Jones) and Sebastian Shaw (Kevin Bacon), aka the Hellfire Club—longtime antagonists of the X-Men are also in the movie.

I have only one thing and one thing only to say, THIS IS NOT THE FIRST CLASS!!!!! If Singer insists on making the movie this way, I hope he comes to what little sense he has and changes the name of the movie and not call it First Class. X-Men: First Class is scheduled to hit theaters on June 3, 2011.

Master Chief in Halo Reach...Well Sort Of

G4tv has confirmed at Gamescom 2010 that Master Chief will be in Halo: Reach. Now don't get too excited, because he is not in the game the way you might think.

Bungie has created a "Player Reward System" where you earn credits from everything you do in the game. These credits can be used to purchase things like armor upgrades as you level up in the game.

You can also use these credits to purchase special items like Armor Effects and Firefight voices. These brand new, newly-recorded voices include Buck, Sergeant Johnson, Cortana and ... Master Chief. Apparently, Master Chief talks more in Halo: Reach more than he did in any of the other Halo titles. So technically Master Chief is "in the game", but you have to earn/purchase his voice.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Movie Has Writers

According to Deadline, Viacom Inc.'s Nickelodeon's sister company Paramount has just fast-tracked the long-in-the-works feature film revival of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise, hiring scribes Art Marcum and Matt Holloway, two co-writers of the first Iron Man film. Dropping $60 million last year to acquire the global rights to one of the most popular kid's properties of the last few decades, Viacom Inc.'s Nickelodeon initiated plans for an all-out blitz of all things Turtles. Besides this reboot live-action film, plans are also in the works for a new CGI-based cartoon, as well as an all-new toy line manufactured by old partner-in-crime, Playmates Toys.

Why do all these movie companies insist on taking things from my childhood and attempt to reboot them? I mean if you look at the track record, it isn't very good, (i.e. GI Joe, Transformers Revenge of the Fallen, etc...) Can't they just leave well enough alone and come up with something original. That being said, I won't call this an Epic Fail just yet and will save my full review until the movie is finally made. I do think the only hope this movie has though, is for the writers to base the movie off the original comics by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird.

Familiar Character To Appear In Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II.

Another panel I was able to attend at Star Wars Celebration V was the Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2 panel. I went into this panel hoping to get a glimpse at some exclusive never before seen content in the game. And they did not disappoint!!!!!!

SPOILER ALERT!!!!!

At the end of the first TFU game, Starkiller, sacrificed himself in order to save the lives of the founders of the Rebel Alliance and the woman he loved. It has been about 6 months since the end of the first game and it appears that Starkiller has been cloned once again under Vader's control. Starkiller is plagued by flashbacks of a past that he doesn't recognize. Driven to the breaking point and before Vader can destroy him, he hurls himself out of his prison tower and makes a daring escape to forge his own destiny.

Starkiller eventually meets up with General Kota who "convinces" him to go to Dagobah to search for the answers he seeks. Once Starkiller arrives on Dagobah, he finds himself drawn to a mysterious cave and he finds sitting at the entrance a familiar face, Master Yoda. Of course Starkiller does not know who Yoda is and Yoda is in no hurry to tell him who he is. Yoda does offer some guidance to Starkiller when he says to him "That what you seek, inside, you will find."

I really enjoyed the first game and can't wait to get my hands on this game. I think the thing I am looking forward to most in this game is the new force powers, especially the Jedi Mind Trick Availability. I can't wait to be able to make a storm trooper jump to his death, I know I have a warped sense of humor. Anyway, from what I have seen of this game, it looks like it will be a lot of fun. Star Wars: Force Unleashed 2 is scheduled for release on October 26th on all platforms.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars Season 3

While I was at Star Wars Celebration V, I was able to attend the Star Wars Clone Wars Season 3 Preview Panel. In the panel moderated by Dave Collins, Supervising Director Dave Filoni and CG Supervisor Joel Aron talked up the next season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars to a full house.

Season 3 will see the return of Count Duku's apprentice/assassin Asajj Ventress. In this season we will be given insight into her backstory and we will learn who she was, what happened to her and why she's the way she is. They also introduced several new worlds and characters, including Savage Oppress (pictured above), who is rumored to be Darth Maul's brother.

To close out the panel, they treated fans to what Filoni called a "Mega Trailer", which I have posted below for your enjoyment. Star Wars: The Clone Wars Season 3 debuts on Cartoon Network on September 17th, 2010.

Original Star Wars Trilogy Coming to Blu-Ray

Well, thanks to my generous and loving wife, I was able to attend Star Wars Celebration V on Saturday 8/15/10 and I must say it was AWESOME!!!! There was tons of stuff to see, including an interview of George Lucas by John Stewart from the Daily Show. Now, unfortunately I was not able to attend that, because I was not willing to show up at 4:00am to wait in line for it. However, I did see some of the highlights and one of the biggest announcements to come from that interview was that the Original Trilogy will be available on Blu-ray sometime in 2011. Lucas also announced that the Blu-ray edition will include some bonus features, including new deleted scenes never seen before. Immediately following that announcement Mark Hamill joined Lucas on stage and introduced one of the deleted scenes. This one is from Return of the Jedi, ENJOY!!!!!

More posts to come.

Batman Inc.?

On Tuesday August 10 2010, Grant Morrison the writer behind Batman: The Return of Bruce Wayne, told the L.A. Times what the future holds for Batman once he gets back from his trip through time. According to Morrison, once Batman returns, he is going to "franchise" the Batman brand around the world, to heroes like Knight and Squire and El Gaucho. Morrison did admit that will take fans a little time to get used to the idea of a Batman franchise, but he also imagines some very unique stories to come out of Gotham going forward.

While talking about the wide range of possibilities there are with the Batman character, Morrison was quoted as saying: "It's really weird. Batman can take anything. You can do comedy Batman, you can do gay Batman...it all works. It something intrinsic to the character. It 's so strange and amazing." He also told the fans worried about all the changes Batman has gone through, "Batman can take it. He's done it before."

Now I am a hardcore Batman Fan and I am not sure if Batman Inc. is a good idea for the Batman. But, I am also a fan of Grant Morrison and have loved everything I have ever read that he has written, so I am willing to give this a chance and praying that this will not be the Batman's downfall. Hopefully Morrison was correct when he said, "Batman can take it."

Final Crisis

Have you ever wondered what would happen if Evil actually won in the DC Universe? If you have, I suggest that you read Final Crisis written by Grant Morrison. This crossover story deals with alien villain Darkseid's plot to overthrow reality, and the subsequent death and corruption of various DC characters and their universe. I give this book 5 out of 5 stars and highly recommend it to anyone who is a fan of the DC Universe and or the works of Grant Morrison.

Official book description:
"WE'VE ALREADY WON AND THEY DON'T EVEN KNOW!"

From the dawn of man to the present day and into the far-flung future, the history of humankind has always been a story of struggle and conflict. A never-ending battle of knowledge versus fear, hope versus hate, and good versus evil.

But now that eternal duel has entered a new stage: man versus god. Life versus anti-life. And this battle will be the greatest of all.

Men of steel and women of wonder, dark knights and lantern lights, those who ride the lightning and those who call it down--none of them can escape the shadow of the dark side--as it reaches out to extinguish the human flame forever.

A hell without exit
A death that is life.
An end to all stories.

A Final Crisis.

Nemesis to be Made Into a Feature Film

It was announced on Friday August 6th that 20th Century Fox has acquired screen rights to the graphic novel Nemesis and that Tony Scott is going to be the director. Tony has directed such films as, Top Gun, Beverly Hills Cop II, The Last Boy Scout, True Romance, Crimson Tide, Enemy of the State, Man on Fire and Déjà Vu

The Nemeis comic is written by Mark Millar and published by Marvel’s Icon Comics. The art is by Scott McNiven. Millar's other works include Wanted, Kick-Ass (which both have been mad into films), X-Men, the Avengers series The Ultimates, and Civil War (McNiven also did the art), and Superman: Red Son.

Nemesis is about Matt Anderson, a billionaire genius who’s bent on avenging the death of his parents. But unlike Batman, his parents were villains and he to has also has become a bad guy. He travels the globe as a costumed vigilante killing top cops. He has since returned to Washington D.C. and has focused his attentions on to Blake Morrow, the police chief who is the one responsible for the downfall of Anderson's parents.

I myself have been reading Nemesis and think it is a great book. So, hopefully if this movie gets made, they don't stray from the story and do the book justice.

Robert Rodriguez In Talks To Direct Deadpool

Robert Rodrigues is reportedly currently in talks with Fox to helm Deadpool, the upcoming X-Men Origins: Wolverine spin-off. According to The LA Times: "After a few weeks of dancing, Rodriguez and studio Fox are negotiating. There's no deal yet, and the sides need to agree on a number of key points, but it's moved beyond the casual discussion stage and into the more substantive realm of deal points."

The screenplay is being writtne by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, who were the creative minds behind Zombieland. Also, Ryan Reynolds will be reprising his role as Deadpool.

Now I myself was never much of a Deadpool fan, but I hope that for all the hard core Deadpool fans out there, that this movie is better than the previous X-Men origin movie.
