Josh Keaton & Robert Englund Join Voice Cast of GREEN LANTERN Animated Series

Actor Robert Englund will be instilling fear as a villainous character in the new cartoon Green Lantern: The Animated Series. Englund released the following statement via Twitter this afternoon:

"Just finished voicing a villain for the new GREEN LANTERN series. Worked with my buddy, Spiderman Josh Keaton."
The two comic book villains already confirmed to appear in the series are Sinestro and Atrocitus; though many more characters are sure to be featured. Englund isn't a stranger comic book voice work; he portrayed Adrian Toomes/the Vulture in The Spectacular Spider-Man animated series which aired on the CW network in 2008. Josh Keaton has voiced Harry Osborn but is more known for lending his voice to the web-head himself in The Spectacular Spider-Man.

Not much has been revealed about the new show, the first to feature DC's Green Lantern Corps as main characters, but preliminary information should become available at New York Comic Con; which takes place this weekend.

"The Shepard's Tale" First Original Serenity Graphic Novel

Shepherd Book of Firefly, who is he and how did he get where he is? Thos are just a few of the hundreds of questions I asked myself while watching Firefly. So, when I found out that he’s the subject of the first original hardback Serenity graphic novel, “The Shepherd’s Tale”, to be published in November, I added this to the top of my list of graphic novels I want to read. Joss Whedon creator of the Firefly TV series has entrusted the job of scripting the story to his brother Zack, who is written for shows like Fringe, Deadwood and Dr Horrible.

Here is what Zack had to say about "The Shepards Tale"

“It explores Book’s backstory, which in the show is very mysterious. You get little indications that his life is much more interesting than you think, but you never really know what it is. This story goes all the way back to his childhood, to see how he ended up the man in the show. It’s very much a character story. It’s very human. I had a lot of fun with it. It’s really charting his emotional and psychological life, and it was really interesting. I was working from an outline by Joss, and he had this really complicated, rich history imagined for Book. Then I scripted it. It was a lot of fun, and it was nerve-wracking because I know that people really care about this character and that universe. And I care about it too. I’m a huge fan of the show and the movie and everything. But I know that we did it justice in the comic. His life took a lot of very interesting turns, and I think that people will be really surprised to see some of the places that he came from.”
Dark Horse editor Allie also commented on the upcoming graphic novel:

“This is an idea that Joss cooked up a few years ago, where Ron Glass was pressuring over and over again to give him some backstory to his character, because his backstory was such a mystery in the show and in the film, and fans really want to know where he comes from and how he came to be this badass preacher on the edge of the universe. Joss had that story in his head, and he was keeping it to himself, and he finally felt like the way to get it out there was a graphic novel. So he plotted it, did an interesting complex plot, and Zack did an amazing job of fleshing it out and bringing it to life. And Chris Sambee’s drawing it, so it’s just great. It’s a really nice kind of special format, prestige book.”
Is it November yet?

Batman 3 Update

While at a press conference for Inception in Italy, Christopher Nolan was asked if Warner Bros. had officially greenlit the upcoming sequel and if he could provide an update on the project. Nolan stated that his brother, Jonah Nolan, has finished a draft of the script and now he is working on the screenplay himself.

When asked about the details on Batman 3, Nolan said:

“I don’t like to talk too much about things until I’m further along with them. But I’m working on the script right now. My brother Jonah has done a draft for the script and now I’m writing on it. We have set a release date and as far as the film being officially greenlit, they haven’t told they don’t want to do it. So I’m hopeful.”

Warner Bros. officially announced in April that the sequel to The Dark Knight will be released on July 20, 2012 in both regular and IMAX theaters.

Happy 121st Birthday Nintendo

Today is Nintendo's birthday. The Japanese company was founded on this day in 1889, which makes Nintendo 121 years old. Amazing, no? Video games are obviously a new thing for Nintendo, but gaming goes way back. The company started out as a firm that manufactured and sold playing cards, specifically, Hanafuda cards.

The company dabbled in a number of other businesses, including "Love Hotels," selling instant rice, and a cab company, but wasn't super successful until it began making toys, and then light gun games, and then video games, and then Mario and consoles and the modern era of Nintendo-power.

Happy Birthday Nintendo, here's to another 121 years of existence.

Scarlett Johansson to star in solo Black Widow flick?

A few months ago Marvel announced that they are planning on making films starring some of their B-list characters, and of course as soon as that announcement was made the Internet was flooded with rumors on which character would get their own movie. Was it going to be Luke Cage, Shang-Chi, Man-Thing, Colleen Wing or Misty Knight? Well according to Kevin Feige of Marvel Studios, it looks like it's gonna be Black Widow.

Feige has confirmed that they are in discussions to have Scarlett Johansson reprise her role as Natasha Romanoff for a stand-alone movie."We've already started discussions with Scarlett about the idea of a solo movie and have begun putting together concepts," said Feige. "But The Avengers comes first."

Justice League Movie Isn’t Happening (Anytime Soon)
Now, you would think with Marvels “The Avengers” coming out it 2011 DC would kick a film into gear. Well, unfortunately it looks like DC and Warner Bros. have no plans for a Justice League movie or at-least anytime soon.

“People make an assumption that we’re going to mirror Marvel’s strategy, for example with Avengers,” Diane Nelson the President of DC Entertainment told IGN Movies in an interview yesterday. “We do have a very different attitude about how you build a content slate. And it isn’t necessarily about connecting those properties together to build into a single thing.” Nelson added: “We think we’ve got great stories and characters that will lend themselves to great standalone experiences, and that’s the way we’re focusing on it.”

I think that a Justice League Movie if done right would be cool. I also think that making movies that focus on standalone experiences of each member of the Justice League first would be a better idea, which is exactly what Marvel is doing. So don't fret JLA fanboys and fangirls, I am sure you will get your Justice League Movie in due time.

Kevin Conroy Discusses "Superman/Batman: Apocalypse"

Official Press Release

This interview was conducted by Warner Home Entertainment.

That loud sound you hear in the distance is the echo of fanboys cheering the return of Kevin Conroy to his benchmark role as the voice of the Dark Knight for the highly-anticipated Superman/Batman: Apocalypse, the ninth entry in the popular, ongoing series of DC Universe Animated Original PG-13 Movies coming September 28, 2010 from Warner Premiere, DC Entertainment, Warner Bros. Animation and Warner Home Video.

Conroy, the voice behind the title character of the landmark Batman: The Animated Series, set a standard that has yet to be contested over the past 20 years. Conroy had already been seen on soap operas and television series like Dynasty and Tour of Duty when he aced his first audition for an animated voiceover role in 1991 – earning the title character role for Batman: The Animated Series. It was a casting decision that sounds as good today as it did back then.

Conroy will share that voice in person as the featured guest when Warner Home Video, UGO.com and The Paley Center for Media proudly present the East Coast premiere of Superman/Batman: Apocalypse in New York on September 23. The West Coast premiere will be hosted in Los Angeles on September 21.

The bi-coastal premieres are just part of the ongoing festivities in conjunction with the release of the film. Included in the activities is "Destination Apocalypse," an interactive online promotion that allows fans to get even deeper into the mythology of Superman/Batman: Apocalypse. Fans can access "Destination Apocalypse" at http://DestinationApocalypse.com and explore the many sections including games, quizzes and information about film. Fans can even send Kryptonian messages to their Facebook friends. In each section, participants virtually "check in" and earn badges to unlock an exclusive video clip from the movie. In addition, earning badges for participating in the various activities in each section help to unlock exclusive movie poster downloads.

Conway helps lead a Superman/Batman: Apocalypse cast that includes fan favorite Tim Daly (Private Practice) as Superman, as well as Andre Braugher (Men of a Certain Age) as the daunting Darkseid, sci-fi heroine Summer Glau (Serenity/Firefly; Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles), and multi-Emmy Award winner Ed Asner (Up) as Granny Goodness.

Based on the DC Comics series/graphic novel “Superman/Batman: Supergirl” by Jeph Loeb, Michael Turner & Peter Steigerwald, Superman/Batman: Apocalypse is produced by animation legend Bruce Timm and directed by Lauren Montgomery (Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths) from a script by Academy Award-nominated screenwriter Tab Murphy (Gorillas in the Mist).

Conroy will speak quite a bit during pre-premiere interviews and a post-premiere panel discussion on September 23. But for those fans who can’t attend the sold-out event, here’s some thoughts the actor offered after a recent recording session.

QUESTION:

Superman/Batman: Apocalypse features a foe powerful enough to require more than just one super hero to step to the plate. Can you speak to the importance of a great villain?

KEVIN CONROY:

Well, the major villain is Darkseid, and he is very apocalyptic. You know, it’s in the title (he laughs). The bigger the villain, the greater the conflict – so as Darkseid is this epic-sized villain, it gives a lot of dynamic for Batman and Superman to work off, and creates that much more drama. Which means lots of action. And, of course, Batman saves the world … as usual. What would you expect? (he laughs)

QUESTION:

Do you have a preference for the type of story that goes with Batman?

KEVIN CONROY:

What makes Batman interesting to audiences isn't just the fact of the personal drama, or the darkness of his having a secret identity, or his avenging his parents' death. All of that personal drama makes him appealing to people. But I think of all the super heroes, what sets him apart is that he's the only one that doesn't have any superpowers. He is the great detective. So in every story, it always comes down to his using his wits. I think everyone relates to that and loves that about him. I really admire that aspect of his character – I wish I was wittier. That's why I think audiences get into him so much, and that character trait is very important to this story.

QUESTION:

Batman is a basically a loner. What are your thoughts about his lone wolf approach, and how that works in a “buddy” adventure like the Superman/Batman films?

KEVIN CONROY:

Batman’s isolation and his singularity, his inability to really let other people into his personal world, is really essential to the character. It's part of what audiences expect. Even in a series like Justice League, where he was one of seven super heroes, Batman was always the odd man out. The others would go off as a group to do something – you know, they might go have pizza – and Batman was always the guy left back in the cave.

So in these Superman stories, I think it's the closest Batman gets to having a brother, a kindred spirit. Superman understands Batman. He understands his need to be alone and his isolation. He’s probably the only one of all the super heroes who can balance Batman in terms of wit and power, so they're a very good balance for each other.

QUESTION:

How does Batman see Superman?

KEVIN CONROY:

I think Batman thinks of Superman as the Dudley Do-Right of super heroes. He admires his strength and his character, but he also he thinks he's incredibly naïve and very unsophisticated about the world. Remember, Batman is also Bruce Wayne, so he's very urbane. He's very versed in the way of the world. And Superman is Clark Kent, and he's such a goof (he laughs). So it's almost all about the alter-ego – the darkness of Batman’s Bruce Wayne is balanced out by the sunny demeanor of Superman’s Clark Kent. That's where I think the distinction is. Batman just thinks that Superman is kind of a very, very naïve guy who always sees the goodness in everybody. And Batman tends to see the darkness.

QUESTION:

You attended Comic-Con International in San Diego last year for the first time in six years. How did that experience impact you?

KEVIN CONROY:

The experience with the fans always re-energizes me for Batman. I've always been really into meeting and interacting with the fans. I understand why a lot of actors don't like to do that because it can be very invasive of your private life. But I'm just so appreciative because I figure I wouldn't have a job if it wasn't for them. Also, my background is the theatre, and the fun of doing theatre is the interaction with the audience, the feedback you get every night. You just don't get that in Hollywood. You don't get that with television or film, and you certainly don't get it working in animation. So the only place you get it is to go to places like the Cons.

Plus, you get funny perks. I went to a Starbucks in downtown San Diego, and they said, “Oh, Mr. Conroy, you don't pay for coffee today.” (he laughs) I thought, well, that hasn't happened in a long time.

QUESTION:

Away from the Cons, how often are you recognized?

KEVIN CONROY:

It happens in some unusual places. A number of years ago, I was in the Hollywood Post Office parking lot. I left everything in the car, because I was just going straight to the mail drop with the envelope. This guy, who was sitting on the curb, obviously homeless, says to me “Hey, buddy, have you got a quarter?” And I said, “I'm so sorry. I literally don't. I have nothing.” He said, “You're Kevin Conroy!” I got really nervous – you just assume that your job is anonymous working on animation, so I asked him how he knew that and he said, “Oh, everybody knows who's Batman.” I said, “No, believe me, everyone doesn't know who's Batman.” He said, “Oh, please--please--please--please do the voice.” He said, “Just say it … I am vengeance.” He knew the lines. I said, “I am vengeance.” He said, “Oh, my God. Batman's here! Batman's here!” He said, “Say it: I am the night.” I said, “I am the night.” He said, “Go! Go! Finish! Finish!” And I said “I am Batman!” So the two of us are there screaming “I am Batman!” in the parking lot, and he started clapping and clapping, yelling “I can't believe I have Batman in the parking lot.”

He went on to explain to me that all television monitors at the Circuit City on Hollywood Blvd. showed Batman every day, and he would stand outside and watch the show. So I said, “Wait, just a second,” and I went running back to the car for some cash. He said, “Oh, I can't take Batman's money.” I told him he was going to take Batman's money so he wouldn’t tell anyone that Batman is cheap (he laughs). That whole scene was wild, though – the last place you'd expect for someone to recognize a voice actor is in the parking lot of the post office.

QUESTION:

You’re a classically trained actor and a graduate of Juilliard. Did you receive any instruction at Julliard that prepared you for voiceover work?

KEVIN CONROY:

At that time, Juilliard was the new hot place to go if you wanted to be an actor, My classmates were people like Robin Williams, Kelsey Grammer, Frannie Conroy. We were all kids. Robin and I were roommates for two years, stealing food from each other when the other wasn’t looking. We were starving students.

Robin was brilliant at the one thing that is perhaps what best prepared me for what I do now, voicework. There was a famous teacher named Pierre LeFevre who ran the mask program at Juilliard. French masks conceal just the upper part of the face. This is classical French theatre, and it's all part of a very classical education. You put on these masks and they completely neutralize who you are. You become a different person. You can't use the expressions on your face – you can only use your body and your voice. Robin lived in those mask classes – he would put on these masks and just become these unbelievable characters. Pierre practically adopted Robin. There was some really inspired stuff going on. The point is that in that class, all you could use was your voice. It really made you focus on that – especially on characterization in your voice.

QUESTION:

Did you have any clue that would lead you somewhere?

KEVIN CONROY:

It’s like that old expression – life is what happens to you when you're busy making other plans. I made all these plans to be a classical actor, and you can't make a living in the theatre anymore. There are no more classical actors. Everyone who survives in the theatre does it by doing TV and film … or voice work.

I had no idea that this is what I would end up doing, but it certainly prepared me for it. I get that question a lot from people. How do you get into this business? How do I get into voice work? And I always say, “Well, you go to Juilliard for four years …” (he laughs) That’s the thing – everyone's route is unique.

QUESTION;

Did you have much voiceover success before Batman?

KEVIN CONROY:

Actually, I started doing voice work in the early '80s, and the very first voice job I did was the first commercial I auditioned for. Remember Paco Rabanne cologne? The hook line was “What is remembered is up to you.” That was me. And over the next couple years, it paid me $25,000 for those few words. It paid for a lot of theatre acting.

Defend Video Games with Stan Lee

The former president and Chairman of Marvel Comics Stan Lee is joining the fight for video game freedom. Lee recently issued a statement asking for all gamers to help the cause of freedom by joining the Video Game Voters Network.

Here is the open letter Lee wrote to gamers:

Dear Video Game Voters Network,

I'm writing to urge gamers everywhere to take a stand and defend both the First Amendment and the rights of computer and video game artists by joining the Video Game Voters Network (VGVN). My memory has always been lousy and it's not improving with age. But it's good enough to remember a time when the government was trying to do to comic books what some politicians now want to do with video games: censor them and prohibit their sales. It was a bad idea half a century ago and it's just as bad an idea now. And you can do something about it.

I created Spider-Man, Iron Man and the Hulk, the virtual ancestors of the characters in today's games. In the 1950s, there was a national hysteria about the so-called "dangerous effect" comic books were having on our nation's youth.

Comic books, it was said, contributed to "juvenile delinquency." A Senate subcommittee investigated and decided the U.S. could not "afford the calculated risk involved in feeding its children, through comic books, a concentrated diet of crime, horror and violence." Comic books were burned. The State of Washington made it a crime to sell comic books without a license. And Los Angeles passed a law that said it was a crime to sell "crime comic books." Looking back, the outcry was — forgive the expression — comical.

The more things change, as they say, the more they stay the same. Substitute video games for comic books and you've got a 21st century replay of the craziness of the 1950s. States have passed laws restricting the sale of video games and later this year, the Supreme Court will hear a case about one of those laws, this one passed in California. Why does this matter? Because if you restrict sales of video games, you're chipping away at our First Amendment rights to free speech and opening the door to restrictions on books and movies.

The Supreme Court should find the law unconstitutional, as lower courts have. But politicians will keep looking for ways to restrict the rights of gamers and computer and video game artists because it makes for good headlines to say they're "protecting the children," even if they're doing no such thing. They do so despite the fact that the industry has a remarkable rating system in place already and all new consoles have parental controls — both of which help parents ensure parents are in control of what their children play. But you can help fight the battle against politicians.

The VGVN was created so gamers can express their views and tell our political leaders that it's as ridiculous to worry about video games today as it was to worry about comic books then. Far from being dangerous, video games are increasingly powerful contributors to our nation's entertainment, economy, education, and society.

By joining the VGVN, you'll be telling our political leaders that you care enough about the games you play to use your voice and your vote to help those who recognize the realities and benefits of gaming and punish those who try to restrict both your access to games and your rights. Please join and participate. It'll be good for your constitution.

Thanks.
I urge all gamers to join the Video Game Voters Network and help Stan Lee defend video games. Here is the link.

Movie News

Ghost Rider:
Spirit of Vengeance

The script details have just been revealed on this upcoming sequel. It was written by David S. Goyer and is being directed by Mark Neveldine and Brain Taylor.

The following was reported by Obsessed with Film:
The sequel is set several years (possibly even a decade) after the first film, and sees Johnny Blaze in a self-imposed exile from the world. (For some reason when you exile yourself from the world you have to move out of the US and go to Europe…or Mexico, its always one of those) The tormented Blaze sees his demonic powers as a curse rather than a means to do justice. The former stuntman is then approached by Moreau, a member of the monastic order of the warrior / archangel Michael. Moreau needs someone capable of protecting a mother and son duo (Nadva and Dannv) who are being hunted by a character named Roarke. Roarke also seems to have specific interests with the Rider, and possess intricate knowledge of the bounty hunter and his “different identities over the centuries.”

Sherlock Holmes 2

Being reported by Heat Vision, Noomi Rapace, who recently starred in the Swedish film "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo", has been cast as the female lead in the sequel to Warner Bros. "Sherlock Holmes.

The details surrounding her role including the details of the film are being kept under wraps, but it is rumored that Rapace's character may be a French gypsy. This will also be Rapace's first English speaking role.

Robert Downey, Jr. and Jude Law will be reprising their roles as the detective duo and will be directed by Guy Ritchie once again. The movie is scheduled to be released sometime in 2011.

The Irishman

Deadline is reporting that Al Pacino and Joe Pesci might be joining Robert De Niro in The Irishman. It is also rumored that the film will be directed by Martin Scorsese. The film is an adaptation the non-fiction book "I Heard You Paint Houses" which was written by Charles Brandt. The story chronicles the life of mob hitman Frank “The Irishman” Sheeran, who is rumored to be the man who killed Jimmy Hoffa. No word on when this movie will be released.

More Green Lantern Movie Info

The Daily Blam apparently Got the chance to take a sneak peak at some new images from the upcoming Green Lantern film and also have provided a more detailed description of how the Green Lantern suit will look. Now if you remember the picture of Ryan in the Green Lantern suit on the front cover of Entertainment Weekly, it had a bunch of green glowing lines it it, well apparently those green are there for a reason.
  • Hal Jordan (Ryan Reynolds) does not don the suit until his first trip to the planet Oa; which takes place when his power ring acknowledges his need for training after he creates his first construct on Earth.

  • When the suit, which is created out of a “hard light” construct from the power ring, is in its solid form, the mask, boots, shoulders, chest, abdomen and back are a distinct, rich green, while the arms, legs and waist areas are a deep black.

  • The suit has definitive lines which segregate the green and black colors.
The glowing, green textured lines which encompass the suit fluctuate in intensity as Jordan gains more control over the power ring, which channels his willpower. The more focus he has, the less it “bleeds” energy.

  • The front, green section of the suit does not extend below and around Jordan’s crotch as depicted in many of the older comic books. Instead, it ends in a sharp point at the base of his abdomen in the modern fashion.

  • When flying, or traveling through space, the suit emits a faint green glow around the ring bearer. Jordan flies, of his own will, many times throughout the film.

  • The ring is comprised of a solid silver band. Over its front, a translucent green attachment is centered with a jewel which visibly “flows” with energy.

  • The individual power batteries each Lantern Corp member carries are much different from the comics’ versions. These are mostly comprised of the same green, translucent material which covers the power ring. The handle of the battery is squared off, and immobile. A large jewel rests at its center as well.

  • An inscription around the jewel appears to be the Green Lantern Oath, which each member of the Corps must recite to charge their rings.
They also reported that we will see our first Green Lantern trailer with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 which hits theaters in November.

"In brightest day, in blackest night
no evil shall escape my sight.
Let those who worship evil's might,
beware my power.... Green Lantern's light!"

This bundle will be released on November 4 and priced at $399.99. Hey just in time for Christmas, imagine that.

Judge Dredd Movie Reboot Gets New Title

The remake of the Judge Dredd movie will now be called just simply "Dredd". Most likely this is an attempt of the makers of this version of the movie to try an separate themselves from the epic failure of the 90's version starring Sylvester Stalone. Although as bad as that movie was, I can't help but laugh every time I hear Stalone say "I AM THE LAW!!!!!!".

Along with the announcement of a new title, IM Global also provided this official synopsis:
DREDD takes us to the wild streets of Mega City One, the lone oasis of quasi-civilization on Cursed Earth. Judge Dredd is the most feared of elite Street Judges, with the power to enforce the law, sentence offenders and execute them on the spot - if necessary. The endlessly inventive mind of writer Alex Garland and the frenetic vision of director Peter Travis bring DREDD to life as a futuristic neo-noir action film that returns the celebrated character to the dark, visceral incarnation from John Wagner and Carlos Ezquerra’s revered comic strip.
Karl Urban will be playing Judge Dredd and just recently announced, Olivia Thirlby will be portaying "Judge" Cassandra Anderson, a telepath who shadows Dredd.

Halo The Movie?

The question that has been circulating the Xbox gamer community since the release of the first Halo game was released has been "So when is the movie coming out?". It has been talked about before and Peter Jackson's WETA Digital even created some teaser footage in an attempt to get the movie made. (Click Here for the Video)Unfortunately the movie was never made.

But don't fret Halo fanboys and fangirls, the dream is not dead. Microsoft has indicated that they are still interested in bringing Halo to the big screen. Why promoting Halo: Reach, Franchise Development Director Frank O'Connor stated "We're still interested in making an excellent 'Halo' movie. We've created an awful lot of documentation and materials to support a feature film. We have a good idea of what kind of story we want to tell, but won't move on it until there's a great reason to do it. We're in no particular hurry." O'Connor as stated that a Halo movie would be a stand alone story and not a retelling of the Halo game franchise. Microsoft who have the rights to any Halo movies are also considering a possible TV series.

Movies based on video games always worry me. Some have done well at the Box Office, i.e. Mortal Kombat(the 1st one), Tomb Raider Series and Prince of Persia, but the majority have bombed, i.e. Super Mario Brothers, Double Dragon, the Street Fighter Series, Mortal Kombat Annihilation, Wing Commander, Max Paine, DOA, etc... So the odds of Halo being a success are not high. Halo has the potential of making a great movie and I think it is all going to come down to who Microsoft gets to write the story. Variety reports that Microsoft is in discussions with writers Alex Garland, Stuart Beattie, D.B. Weiss and Josh Olson as possible writers for a movie. As a fan of the Halo series, all I ask of Microsoft, please don't ruin this franchise.

New Call of Duty: Black Ops Features and Multiplayer Modes

Yesterday, Treyarch online director Dan Bunting and multiplayer design director David Vonderhaar showed off some new features and multiplayer modes for Call of Duty: Black Ops.

One new feature is called Combat Training which is an offline multiplayer Bot mode. This mode allows you to play alone or with friends. Basically it is a way to practice before you test your skills online.

Changes have also been made to the perk system. Now Tier 1 perks impact how your character looks in the game. Also, there are two new Killstreak special weapon care packages; a chain gun called the Death Machine and a missile launcher called the Grim Reaper. Other new kill streaks announce were napalm strike, remote controlled car bombs, gunship, mortars, and a SAM turret that is used to shoot down gunships. Players will also be able to customize their weapons with emblems and decals. Also they can attach custom targeting reticules.

Also, in addition to rewarding players with XP in multiplayer, Call of Duty: Black Ops also rewards players with CP or "CoD points. CP is your main currency for unlocking gear and content for use in the game. In order to unlock new guns, killstreaks, symbols (used in creating your own emblem/logo), etc... in multiplayer you will need to use your CP.

There is a new multiplayer mode called Wager Match where players can bet CoD points on how they will do in the match. The top three players will split the winnings. Within the Wager Match option there are four new game types:
  • One in the Chamber -- Players will start with pistols only, one bullet, and three lives. If you kill someone you get a bullet.

  • Sticks and Stones -- Players start with a crossbow and a ballistic knife, and a tomahawk. If a player is killed with a tomahawk they go bankrupted.

  • Gun Game -- All players start with pistol, and every kill gives you a better weapon. First one to progress through the weapons wins. If you get knifed you get reset a level.

  • Sharp Shooter -- All players start with the same randomly selected weapon. Weapons cycle, but everyone has the same weapon.

Finally, there is a new Theater Mode. Theater mode allows players to record clips and create screenshots to tag and share with friends online. The camera can be switched between first and third person perspectives as well as free roam.

All of these new features sound pretty sweet and I can't wait to play this game. However, all new features aside, the one thing I would love to see with Call of Duty: Black Ops, is that Treyarch prevents hackers/moders from ruining this game the way they ruined Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.
