Relaunch Justice Lineup Revealed?

Toon Tumblers revealed one of their San Diego Comic Con exclusives last night on Facebook, a Justice League tumbler. Tt features the seven heroes we’ve seen in the preview shot that’s been making the rounds since DC announced the new Justice League book coming in September as well as several more heroes — Firestorm, Atom, Deadman, Hawkman, Green Arrow and other characters who have yet to be easily identified.

No official word has come from DC that these characters are indeed the rest of the new Justice League, so it’s speculation at this point. Justice League #1 hits shelves in August.

After twelve years, Christopher Meloni is leaving Law & Order: SVU, but the actor looks to quickly be jumping into a new, high profile job. Deadline reports that Meloni is in negotiations for what they are calling a "major role" in Man of Steel, the Zack Snyder-directed Superman reboot. There is no word on who Meloni would play yet, Lex Luthor (if that character is even in the film) perhaps or maybe Perry White?

IRON MAN and WOLVERINE Anime Series U.S. Premiere Dates Announced

This summer, G4 and Marvel team up to bring fans a whole new way to see their favorite Super Heroes with the premiere of two original Marvel anime series, “Iron Man” and “Wolverine.” The eagerly anticipated series will air exclusively on G4 with twelve half-hour weekly episodes that include interconnecting storylines and cameo appearances by several popular Marvel characters. G4 viewers can be part of all the action when “Iron Man” premieres on Friday July 29th at 11pm ET/PT followed by “Wolverine” at 11:30pm ET/PT and will air weekly Fridays from 11:00-Midnight ET/PT. With epic battles, action-packed storylines and mind-blowing animation, these series star some of the most popular Super Hero comic book characters of all time. And for more intense action, two new Marvel anime series—X-Men and Blade—will premiere later this year, exclusively on G4.

G4 is the exclusive U.S. television home of the four brand-new anime series, guided by New York Times best-selling author Warren Ellis (Iron Man: Extremis, Astonishing X-Men: Xenogenesis) and produced by Madhouse for Marvel Entertainment and Sony Pictures Entertainment Japan (SPEJ). Adrian Pasdar (“Heroes,” “Castle,” “Profit”) will lend his voice to the character of Tony Stark in “Iron Man” while Milo Ventimiglia (“Heroes,” “Gilmore Girls,” “Rocky Balboa”) takes on the title role in “Wolverine.”

“Iron Man”
In an effort to make amends for his past in weapons manufacturing, Tony Stark has dedicated himself to building the world up rather than tearing it down. Traveling to Japan to build a new arc reactor that will deliver unlimited free energy to the Japanese people, Stark is challenged by the Japanese government and the media when he attempts to import the necessary nuclear priming device. When the nuclear reactor is repeatedly attacked by the mysterious Zodiac consortium, Stark must gather his allies to take on Zodiac and its mastermind.

“Wolverine”
Based on the popular graphic novel by Chris Claremont and Frank Miller, the series begins when Mariko, the love of Logan’s life, is forced back to Japan by her crime-lord father, Shingen. Logan vows to get her back at any cost. He is plunged into a chaotic world of corruption and violence, forcing him to team up with young assassin, Yukio, to battle their way through the Japanese criminal underworld.

Iron Man and Wolverine will hit G4TV this summer on July 29th beginning at 11pm.

Legendary Comic Artist Gene Colan Dead at 84

Legendary comic book artist Gene Colan has passed away at age 84.

Eugene "Gene" Colan was an American comic book artist best known for his work for Marvel Comics, where his signature titles include the superhero series, Daredevil, the cult-hit satiric series Howard the Duck, and The Tomb of Dracula, considered one of comics' classic horror series. He co-created the Falcon, the first African-American superhero in mainstream comics.

His death was reported by his friend, the writer Clifford Meth, on his blog. He said that Colan had been in a "quasi-coma state" following a broken hip and complications due to liver disease.

"I am terribly saddened to lose Gene," said Meth. "He was a gentle and deeply spiritual man, a bright light in every context, and those who knew him at any level were enriched by his warmth and generous nature."

The Muppets Movie Trailer

Official Summary:

On vacation in Los Angeles, Walter, the world's biggest Muppet fan, and his friends Gary (Jason Segel) and Mary (Amy Adams) from Smalltown, US, discover the nefarious plan of oilman Tex Richman (Chris Cooper) to raze the Muppet Theater and drill for the oil recently discovered beneath the Muppets' former stomping grounds. To stage The Greatest Muppet Telethon Ever and raise the $10-million needed to save the theater, Walter, Mary and Gary help Kermit the Frog reunite the Muppets, who have all gone their separate ways: Fozzie now performs with a Reno casino tribute band called the Moopets, Miss Piggy is a plus-size fashion editor at Vogue Paris, Animal is in a Santa Barbara clinic for anger management, and Gonzo is a high-powered plumbing magnate. With secret, signature, celebrity cameos, "The Muppets" hits the big screen November 23, 2011.

Marvel Announces, Uncanny X-Men #1 And Wolverine & The X-Men #1

In what Marvel are calling, “X-Men Regenesis,” October and November will see the launch of two new teams of X-Men, with Wolverine & The X-Men #1 due in October and Uncanny X-Men #1 following soon after in November. Both books will feature a wide variety of the mutant superheroes, with former friends on different sides and chasing different goals.

Editor Nick Lowe said, “The best thing about this split is that the two books hit two very different chords. One is hardcore super hero action and the other is something else entirely that I can’t go too deep into without spoiling ‘Schism.’ The best way I can describe it is a return to a structure that made the X-Men what it was.”

“The events in ‘Schism’ will cause a huge rift in the X-Men, the ripple effects of which will be felt in Marvel Universe,” Marvel editor-in-chief Axel Alonso added. “In the course of this story, Cyclops and Logan will realize that there is no way for them to continue on the course they’ve been going — or, indeed, to even co-exist.”

He finished by concluding that after “Schism” the two new teams, “will stare at each other across a philosophical chasm the size of the Grand Canyon. This is a war for the heart of the X-Men.”

DC To End Superman's Marriage To Lois In Upcoming Relaunch

Superman and Lois are getting a divorce!!! Well, not really, but it appears that in the upcoming relaunch of the DC Universe, Superman and Lois will no longer be married.

When asked about how the relauch will affect the relationship between Superman and Lois Lane, DC co-publisher Dan DiDio stated "Let’s just say it's being reexamined...because it's something that I think is something that is so valuable to the character's story that you really want to explore all facets of it. Not just as it exists currently."

So what does this mean for Superman's love life? Well, one of the rumor's floating around is that Superman's next love interest will be Wonderwoman. But, I suppose we'll just have to wait and see what happens later this year.

DC Comics Announces Four New SUPERMAN Titles; Cover Art Released

DC Comics has announced four new Superman titles to be released in September. Action Comics, Superman, Supergirl and Superboy will all be launched with new #1 issues in September.

A new era of DC Comics begins as the longest-running monthly comic of all time releases its first issue #1 since 1938.

This September, New York Times bestselling writer Grant Morrison (ALL-STAR SUPERMAN) joins with sensational artist Rags Morales to bring you tales of The Man of Tomorrow unlike any you’ve ever read before in ACTION COMICS #1. This momentous first issue will set in motion the history of the DC Universe as Superman defends a world that doesn’t trust their first Super Hero.

The first Action Comics #1 is now the most sought-after comic book of all time. This September, one of comics’ most imaginative storytellers will make history again in Grant Morrison and Rags Morales’ ACTION COMICS #1.

What is Superman’s startling new status quo? How does it affect his friends, loved ones and his job at The Daily Planet? Find out in SUPERMAN #1, written by legendary comics creator George Perez (CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS, NEW TEEN TITANS and WONDER WOMAN) and illustrated by Jesus Merino.

Supergirl’s got the unpredictable behavior of a teenager, the same powers as Superman and none of his affection for the people of Earth. Writers Michael Green and Mike Johnson (Smallville, SUPERMAN/BATMAN) will team up with artist Mahmud Asrar to give a new take on the teenager from Krypton in SUPERGIRL #1.

They thought he was just a failed experiment, grown from a combination of Kryptonian and human DNA. But when the scope of his stunning powers was revealed, he became a deadly weapon. SUPERBOY #1 will be written by Scott Lobdell with art by R.B. Silva and Rob Lean.
